Miscellaneous

Among the miscellaneous documents in this site is one of the best-known speeches of the master orator Winston Churchill. Commonly known now as the Iron Curtain speech, Churchill’s ringing phrases about the situation in Europe almost seem to come as an afterthought. What was Churchill’s main theme? Also in the miscellaneous category are two speeches by Herbert Norman at Japanese universities in the post Second World War era. These comment on the state of democracy in post-war Japan, an issue that the occupying Western powers were highly attentive to, at least until 1948.
